One-Sided vs Two-Sided Balloon Printing
PrintOnline's branded balloons can be printed with a single logo spot, two spots (matching or different designs), or left unprinted if you're mixing plain and branded balloons in one order. Which configuration makes sense depends heavily on how the balloons will actually be displayed or handled.
How each works
One-sided printing places your logo in a single spot on the balloon's surface. Two-sided printing places a design in two spots, either the same logo repeated for visibility from multiple angles, or two different designs on the same balloon.
Cost implications
Two-spot printing is a more involved print job than a single spot, so expect it to cost more than one-sided printing at the same quantity. Confirm current per-configuration pricing directly on the product page, since it's set by quantity and configuration together rather than a single flat add-on fee.
Balloon rotation
A balloon that's free-floating or loosely tied (rather than fixed in one orientation) rotates naturally in the air, meaning a one-sided print won't always face the room. Two-sided printing largely solves this, since one of the two print spots is more likely to be visible regardless of how the balloon has turned.
Handheld balloons
For a balloon someone is actually holding, like a handout at an event, one-sided printing is usually sufficient, since the holder can naturally orient the logo toward whoever they're facing, and the balloon isn't rotating freely the way a released or floating balloon would.
Static displays
For balloons fixed in place as part of a table centrepiece, entrance display, or similar static arrangement, the balloons can generally be positioned with the print facing the intended viewing angle, making one-sided printing workable if you control the final placement carefully.
Balloon arches and columns
In an arch or column, balloons are packed closely and viewed from many angles as people walk past or through the display. Two-sided printing (or a high enough density of one-sided balloons mixed with plain ones) generally gives more consistent brand visibility across the structure than relying on one-sided balloons all happening to face the right way.
Logo visibility
The core trade-off is simple: one-sided printing costs less but depends on orientation control; two-sided printing costs more but removes most of the guesswork around whether your logo is actually facing outward at any given moment.
When each configuration makes sense
| Situation | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Handheld balloons at an event | One-sided |
| Fixed table or desk display you control the angle of | One-sided |
| Free-floating or ceiling-released balloons | Two-sided |
| Balloon arch, column, or dense wall display | Two-sided |
| Budget-constrained bulk order for general decor | One-sided, or a mix with unprinted balloons |
