Custom Canvas Printing in Dubai: Complete Buying Guide

By Sonam S. May 9, 2026 8 Views No comments

A canvas print turns a digital photo into a piece of wall art, something photo paper in a frame rarely achieves on its own. This guide covers how PrintOnline's canvas printing works, start to finish, using real current pricing.

What canvas printing is

Canvas printing means your image is printed directly onto canvas fabric, which is then stretched over a wooden frame, giving it depth and a gallery-style finished look rather than sitting flat behind glass.

Canvas vs photo paper

Photo paper prints are flat and typically go behind glass or in a standard frame, which can introduce glare and requires separate framing. A canvas print is ready to hang as-is, with a textured surface and no glare, and reads as a more deliberate piece of wall decor rather than a framed photograph.

Canvas materials

PrintOnline's canvas is roughly 300gsm canvas fabric, printed and then stretched over a wooden frame, finished with a canvas fabric overlay and backside masking tape for a clean rear finish.

Wooden frames

The canvas stretches over a wooden frame available in 2cm or 4cm thickness. Which one you get depends on stock rather than on the size you order, so if a specific thickness matters to your project, confirm availability with PrintOnline before ordering rather than after.

The photo above is the back of a finished piece. Two things worth noticing: the canvas is wrapped and secured around a solid timber stretcher rather than glued to a board, and the hanging rings are already fitted. That is what "ready to hang" means in practice here; you need a hook and a spirit level, not a trip to a framer.

Indoor use only

Stretched canvas on a wooden frame is an indoor product. Timber and canvas both react to moisture, so a bathroom, an uncovered terrace or anywhere humid is not the right home for one. Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices, receptions and hospitality interiors are.

Sizes: A5 to A0, square and panoramic

PrintOnline offers canvas prints in fourteen stocked sizes across three format families: standard A-sizes (A5 through A0), squares, and wide or tall formats. Custom sizes are available on request if none of them fit your wall. Full size-by-size detail, including which size suits which wall, is in the canvas print size guide.

Choosing size

Size should be driven by where the canvas will hang and from how far it's typically viewed; a small A5 or A4 suits a desk or shelf, while A1 or A0 suits a feature wall viewed from across a room. See the size guide above for the full breakdown.

Image resolution

Canvas printing, especially at larger sizes, needs a high-resolution original image to avoid a blurry or pixelated result once enlarged. Full guidance on what makes a good canvas photo is in what photos look best on canvas.

Wrapped sides

PrintOnline offers two side-treatment options:

  • White sides. Your image stays on the face of the canvas and the wrapped edge is left plain white. Nothing is lost from the picture.
  • Stretched image sides. Your design continues around the edge of the frame for a gallery-wrap look. This consumes a few centimetres of the picture, because what wraps around the side is no longer visible from the front.

That second point decides the choice more often than aesthetics do. If your photo has a face, a horizon or anything you care about close to the edge, white sides keep it. If there is generous empty space around the subject, the wrap looks better. Custom edge instructions can also be given during ordering.

Home decor

A canvas print works well in a living room, bedroom, or hallway as a feature piece, personal photography, art, or a meaningful print given as a gift. Full room-by-room ideas are in canvas wall art ideas for homes and offices.

Office decor

Offices, receptions, and hospitality spaces use canvas prints for branding, artwork, or feature walls. See the same wall art guide above for specific placement ideas.

Gifts

A canvas print of a family photo, a couple, or a pet is a common personalised gift, since it arrives ready to hang rather than needing a separate frame.

Colour: what to expect, honestly

Colour matching is not offered on canvas, and the finished print can differ from your digital mockup by up to 20%. This is not a disclaimer to skim past: screens emit light and canvas reflects it, and a textured fabric surface renders colour differently from a backlit display. For a family photo or a landscape, nobody notices. For brand-colour-critical work, where a specific corporate red has to be that red, canvas is the wrong product and PrintOnline will tell you so before you order rather than after.

PrintOnline also prints the image as you supply it. Quality is not automatically corrected as part of the standard specification, so a dark or soft original stays dark or soft at full size.

Pricing

Canvas pricing scales by size, from AED 56 for the smallest A5 up to AED 800 for the largest piece, a 100x100cm square. A0 is the largest of the standard A-sizes at AED 700. Full pricing table is in the size guide.

Production

Standard production dispatches in 4 working days. Express options are available for an additional fee that scales with size: 48-hour dispatch from AED 30 up to AED 295 depending on the size ordered, or 24-hour dispatch at AED 100. The production clock starts when you approve the artwork, not when you pay.

Delivery

Choose courier delivery (1-2 days after production) or special driver delivery (6 or 10 working hours after production, AED 50-150), covering Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman city limits plus other Emirates, with remote locations taking longer.
