Canvas Print Size Guide: A5, A4, A3, A2, A1 & A0
Canvas size should be chosen based on where it will hang and how far away people typically stand to view it, not just the size of the photo you want printed. This guide covers every size PrintOnline currently offers, with real pricing for each.
A5 (14.8 x 21cm)
AED 56. Suited to a desk, shelf, or a small gallery-wall grouping viewed up close, within arm's reach rather than across a room.
A4 (21 x 29.7cm)
AED 81. A step up from A5, still a close-viewing size, good for a hallway, a small bedroom wall, or as part of a multi-canvas arrangement.
A3 (29.7 x 42cm)
AED 106. Works as a standalone piece on a modest wall, viewed from a couple of metres away, such as above a desk or a side table.
A2 (42 x 59.4cm)
AED 169. A genuinely wall-filling size for a smaller room, or a strong single piece above a sofa or bed when paired with the room's scale.
A1 (59.4 x 84cm)
AED 363. A statement size, suited to a living room feature wall or an office reception, viewed comfortably from across a room.
A0 (84 x 118.8cm)
AED 700. PrintOnline's largest A-size, suited to a large feature wall where the canvas needs to anchor the whole room, viewed from several metres away.
Square formats
Three square sizes sit in the standard range: 20x20cm (AED 75), 30x30cm (AED 100), 50x50cm (AED 219) and 65x65cm (AED 288), with a large 100x100cm square at AED 800, the biggest piece PrintOnline stocks. Square formats suit a tighter composition, such as a single portrait or a close-cropped detail shot, and work particularly well in symmetrical multi-canvas arrangements.
Wide and tall formats
60x20cm (AED 105) and 100x35cm (AED 231) are the two panoramic sizes, suited to wide landscape shots, skylines, or group photos where the composition is naturally wide. There is also a 40x100cm format (AED 269), which is the same idea turned on its side: a tall, narrow piece for a doorway return, a stairwell, or a column of wall too narrow for a standard rectangle.

Bulk pricing applies when you order more than one; the product page's quantity selector runs 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. Custom sizes are available on request if none of these suit your wall, so ask PrintOnline directly for a quote rather than forcing your image into the nearest stocked size.
Which size for which wall
PrintOnline's own guidance is to choose on three things: the wall area, the viewing distance, and the type of image. Applied to the stocked range, that gives:
| Size | What it is recommended for |
|---|---|
| A5 - A4 | Small personal photographs and gifts |
| A3 - A2 | Bedrooms, offices and medium wall spaces |
| A1 | Larger photographs and statement artwork |
| A0 | Large feature walls and commercial interiors |
| Square | Portraits, family collages and multi-photo designs |
| Panorama | Landscapes, wide photographs and large horizontal walls |
On viewing distance, the general rule of thumb for wall art, rather than anything specific to this product, is that A5 to A4 reads at arm's length, A3 to A2 from a metre or two, A1 from across a small room, and A0 from several metres away. If you are choosing for a room people walk through rather than sit in, size up: the commonest mistake with canvas is buying one size too small for the wall.
