1. What is a company stamp?
A company stamp (also called a company seal, business stamp or rubber stamp) is a hand-held device that prints your company's official identity onto paper in ink. In the UAE it normally carries the exact company name as written on the trade licence, often in both English and Arabic, and may also include the licence number, TRN, telephone number, email, website or address. When it is pressed onto a contract, invoice, letter or application form next to an authorised signature, it tells the reader that the document was issued by the company and not by an individual acting alone.
The stamp itself is a rubber or polymer plate with your artwork engraved in reverse, mounted in a plastic self-inking mechanism or on a wooden handle. A well-made stamp gives a clean impression for 2 to 5 years of office use and can be re-inked many times.
2. Is a company stamp mandatory in the UAE?
There is no single federal law that says every company must own a stamp, but in day-to-day practice a company stamp is treated as mandatory in the UAE. You will be asked to stamp documents by:
- Banks, when opening or operating a corporate account and on cheques, letters of instruction and account forms.
- Government departments and free zone authorities, on applications, NOCs, establishment card forms and labour and immigration paperwork handled by your PRO.
- Landlords and Ejari, on tenancy contracts for commercial premises.
- Clients and suppliers, who expect quotations, invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes and letters of undertaking to carry the company stamp beside the signature.

3. What documents are required to order a company stamp?
Because a company stamp represents a licensed legal entity, a responsible stamp maker in Dubai will not produce one without proof that the entity exists. To order from PrintOnline you need:

4. Round vs rectangular company stamps
Both shapes are legally acceptable in the UAE; the choice is about how much text you need and how you want it to look.
- Round company stamps (30 mm, 38 mm, 40 mm and larger) are the classic "company seal" look. The company name curves around the outer ring in English and Arabic, and the centre holds the logo, licence number or the word "Dubai". A 38 mm round is the most common choice for a corporate seal. 5. Self-inking vs traditional stamps
A self-inking stamp has a built-in ink pad. The rubber plate flips against the pad after every impression, so you press, lift and press again with no separate pad on the desk. It is the standard choice for offices, typing centres, clinics, accountants and anyone who stamps dozens of documents a day. Models from Shiny, Colop and Brother last for thousands of impressions and the pad can be replaced or re-inked.
A traditional rubber stamp is a rubber plate on a wooden or acrylic handle and needs a separate ink pad. It costs slightly less, gives a very slight "hand-stamped" character, and lets you switch ink colours freely by using different pads. It suits low-volume use, decorative stamps or large formats that do not fit a self-inking body.

6. What information goes on the stamp?
A UAE company stamp should carry at minimum the licensed company name. Most businesses add some or all of the following:
- Company name in English and in Arabic.
- Emirate or city (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah).
- Trade licence number.
- TRN (VAT registration number), especially for invoices. A separate VAT / TRN stamp is also popular.
- Telephone number, email address and website.
- Office address or PO Box.
- Logo, supplied as a vector or PDF file.
Keep in mind that a stamp impression is up to 2 mm smaller than the machine size, and small text below about 7 pt becomes hard to read after a few hundred impressions. If you want everything on one stamp, choose a larger rectangular size; if you want a clean corporate seal, keep it to the name, city and licence number on a round stamp.
7. Arabic and English company stamps
Bilingual stamps are the norm in the UAE. Government departments, courts and many banks prefer or require the Arabic company name as it appears on the trade licence, while international clients read the English. On a round stamp, the English name usually runs across the top arc and the Arabic name across the bottom arc. On a rectangular stamp, the Arabic line sits above or below the English line.
